Seventeen and a half minutes long, ‘School Report’ is a pop song with a disconcertingly funny lyric about the cruelties of the past echoing into the present. The singer (Steve Miles) relates the story of a day where the tiniest efforts at personal progress are held back by the character assassinations delivered to him, decades ago, by hostile teachers.

‘School Report’ is strangely addictive, swinging back and forth on its axis, delivering again and again, a White Light White Heat of personal anxiety, as the singer tries, and fails, to move on from the past.
